Alpha Arbutin for Brighter Skin ft. Hollaface 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum

22:21

We've heard so many raves over Niacinamide, Kojic Acid, and Vitamin C for brighter skin everywhere before this but, in this blog post, I want to share with you another powerful safe skin ingredient to helps brighten your skin, which is Alpha Arbutin.

WHAT IS ARBUTIN

Arbutin is a molecule extracted from plants such as blueberries, bearberries, and cranberries that prevents the formation of melanin on the skin. Known as a safe skin brightening ingredient where most dermatologists claim as the secret to ultra-bright skin

It helps to fade away acne scars and pigmentations which cause by sun damage and breakouts, thus making the skin brighter.

HOW IT WORKS

Basically, the brown spots on the skin often come from pigments that are produced in our cells called melanocytes, which also contain enzymes called tyrosinase. Tyrosinase is in charge as the first step of melanin production.

When they come in contact with direct UV light, that is the time where you'll notice some freckles or sunspots starting to develop on your skin if you spend too much time in the sun since they can activate the cells and stimulate melanin at any time.

That's when the arbutin comes in: it reduces the production of skin pigment by suppressing the enzymes that stimulate melanin, which is tyrosine and keeps the dark spots at bay. It also slows down the process of pigmentation that causes by UV light and eventually brightens up the skin.

ARBUTIN IN SKINCARE

In skincare, Arbutin can be found in many types of skincare products such as moisturizers, serums, toners, and also masks. It is designed to improve pigmentation, fade away scars, and brighten dark spots that usually linger after acne disappears.

However, it's important to learn how to differentiate the forms of arbutin especially between alpha-arbutin and others that have similar-sounding ingredients such as beta arbutin, the cheap and unstable version of arbutin.

Alpha arbutin is the more stable and well-effective form of arbutin that has a stronger prevention cause of tyrosine, making it more effective at brightening the skin. The inhibitory effect of alpha-arbutin on human tyrosinase is estimated to be more than ten times stronger than arbutin alone.

It's often marketed as a safer alternative to hydroquinone, a skin-bleaching agent that helps to 'brighten' the skin which eventually would cause skin issues with prolonged use. Hydroquinone works by killing the cells that build up melanin and pigmentation while arbutin blocks the enzymes that stimulate cells of pigment production.

So, alpha arbutin is a much safer ingredient for skin brightening.

ARBUTIN FACTS

  • Arbutin can be used twice daily.
  • Better for sensitive skin because its active component is released slowly so it's less irritating and gentle to the skin (it won't cause purging).
  • A great remedy to fade away scars by brightening the dark spots and improving uneven complexion.
  • Effective at brightens the skin as it prevents the formation of dark spots.
  • Safe to use with other skincare products as it has no other conflicts that may arise later so it's easy to fit into your current skincare routine.
  • It works well with Vitamin C and AHAs (alpha hydroxy acid).

I recommend using Hollaface Brightening Concentrate Glow Serum because it contains 2% of Alpha Arbutin, as it is the appropriate amount of arbutin concentration in skincare. It is paired with Silver Vine fruit extract, which is also a great ingredient to improve skin translucency.

My Experience With Hollaface 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum

As someone who has been struggling with acne scars and some tiny dark spots covering my face, I determined to take care of my skin religiously while searching for new products to add to my routine.

I've wanted to try Alpha Arbutin for so long since I've read so many benefits of it to improve scars and brighten the skin. It's not about what product can give me the fastest result but it's about finding a product that is effective and made with good ingredients.

I integrated the Hollaface Brightening Concentrate Glow Serum into my routine by applying it to my skin twice per day- every morning and night. Each time I applied the serum to my skin, it feels tacky at first but once absorbed, my skin feels hydrated and glowing without any stickiness.

I have some acne scars on my cheeks and side forehead, so I aim to clear them all out with Alpha Arbutin. After two weeks of using this serum, I could see the fine result it did on my skin- minimal fading of acne scars

It's quite impressive actually because I know that Alpha Arbutin does take time to deliver visible results. I can't wait to see the results next month which I hope my acne scars won't be visible anymore.

I regret not trying Alpha Arbutin sooner and am glad to have met Hollaface Brightening Concentrate Glow Serum.
