Door Lock is a 2018 South Korean thriller film directed by Lee Kwon. This movie was written based on a 2011 Spanish movie called Sleep Tight. Sleep Tight tells us the story from the perpetrator's perspective, while Door Lock tells us the same, but from the victim's point of view.

Synopsis

Kyung-Min (played by Gong Hyo-jin) is an average woman living by herself in a one-room apartment. One day, she finds her highly secured door lock cover is left open when she arrives at her place after work. She somewhat feels scared so she changes her door lock password.

However, on the same night when she's about to go to sleep, she hears someone trying to unlock her door. Shocked by this, she calls the police but yet, the cops only show annoyance and feel no sympathy towards her.

A few days later, she finds more traces of a stranger trying to break into her room, and soon a serious murder incident occurs. Realizing that her safety is threatened while the cops seem useless, she starts investigating on her own.

My Personal Review

Have you ever heard someone trying to break into your house while you are about to go to sleep or maybe you had a fear of someone entering your house while you are not there? Well, Door Lock Korean movie is here to bring your fear to a real thrilling life experience.

Door Lock 2018 | Korean Movie Review

Imagine that someone has been living with you in the same house all this while but you never realize it until you found a hint that soon brings you to unravel a complicated mysterious puzzle.

In the beginning plot of Door Lock, Kyung-Min thoughts that someone is just trying to break into her room in one fine day, but actually she has been living with that stranger all this time!

The electronic door lock is a kind of thing that is very common in Korea and considered as highly secured where only the person who knows the password can enter the room. While living by her only self, Kyung-Min is frightened that someone might know her door lock password.

Having seen these door locks are very familiar in other Korean movies and dramas, I've ever wondered how secured this thing could be compared to other locks that common as in my own country and every scene in this movie has given me the real shot to that question.

The door Lock movie has brought up too much suspense in me, with countless suspicious things twisted my brain. The writer really takes a very real-world ''what if'' scenario, and builds a highly thrilling and suspenseful narrative in this film.

There are scares, but more to tension feels rather than jump-scares. You might predict some twisted in this movie but sometimes your prediction can just go wrong because there are too many stages haha.

One thing that I don't really like in this movie is the way they portray the male characters. It's just my personal feeling that I would be deadly insane if I live in a community that has most men that behave like them with most of them have the possibility of being a psycho, pervert, murderer, stalker, or even a rapist.

Even the decent police officer Detective Lee, a knight in shining armor at the most part of the ending story, fails to take the woman seriously from the very start and he ever believed that she was capable of the murder that happened in her own apartment before.

*dasar laki-laki ngga ada akhlakk

Nonetheless, the Door Lock movie is worth keeping an eye on. The way they narrate the woman who is in distress facing her worst life experience feels so real, leading her to be really determined in finding out the truth by herself before going in too deep over her head.

If you're in the mood for a thriller genre movie, watch the Door Lock movie now!
