Hyaluronic Acid has become a cornerstone in the modern skincare industry and is loved by every gender, income group, and generation globally. There are a lot of skincare blogs out there that list every single thing you need to know about Hyaluronic Acid, but I'm going to make it simple for you here. Okay, so,

    What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic Acid, also known as hyaluronate or hyaluronan, is a naturally slippery occurring substance that your body produces naturally. It is commonly found throughout almost every connective body tissue and fluid, especially in the eyes, joints, and skin.

    hyaluronic acid serum

Hyaluronic Acid is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and moisture. It gives your skin the right structure for a radiant, hydrated, and plump look. Skincare experts have researched Hyaluronic Acid as the most powerful active formula ingredient in moisturizers, serums, and other beauty products. Its exceptional water-binding capacity allows it to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, making it a powerhouse ingredient for combating dryness, fine lines, and dullness.

However, the concentration of Hyaluronic Acid in our bodies gradually decreases as we age. That's why Hyaluronic acid-infused skincare products like NanoSkin Singapore Hyaluronic Acid Nano+ Serum are formulated to help replenish the skin's moisture reserves and restore a youthful, radiant complexion.

As trends in the skincare industry often come and go like the changing seasons, one of the true hero ingredients has emerged: Niacinamide. I'm pretty sure you are already familiar with this name. With its widely proven effectiveness on the skin, Niacinamide, also known as Nicotinamide, a type of Vitamin B3, has become a cornerstone in skincare formulations worldwide.

Today, we will explore how Niacinamide in skincare can help achieve radiant and youthful skin while delving into the transformative potential of NanoSkin Singapore Niacinamide Serum.

    What Is Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a type of vitamin B3, also known as Nicotinamide. It is a water-soluble vitamin that can boost skin health from within. Although vitamin B can also be found in food, such as grains, nuts, and fish, it is also found in skincare products, such as Nicotinamide.

    Niacinamide formula in skincare

Niacinamide helps to achieve healthy skin by boosting hydration and preventing moisture loss. If your skin loses moisture, it can become dehydrated, dry, and flaky, leading to other skin problems. Niacinamide helps to maintain a healthy skin barrier, an essential protective layer that locks moisture and protects your skin from harmful dirt. It can also calm your skin from irritation and has powerful antioxidant properties.

    Benefits of Niacinamide in Skincare

Niacinamide is commonly found in skincare formulas for its hydrating and skin-brightening properties. It has become one of many powerful ingredients in the beauty market nowadays. Incorporating Niacinamide into your skincare routine would help to make your skin look softer, brighter, smoother, and more radiant.

If you have oily skin and are prone to acne, use Niacinamide. Niacinamide helps regulate oily skin sebum and prevent clogged pores, which can lead to acne. Consistently applying Niacinamide to your skin will reduce the production of skin oil and the appearance of acne. Niacinamide, which is rich in antioxidant properties, also helps protect your skin against environmental damage and harmful radicals.

    Benefits of Niacinamide summary:

    • Retain skin barrier and moisture.
    • Protect your skin against sun damage and UV rays.
    • Protect the skin from pollution and toxins.
    • Calming redness and irritation.
    • Minimize pore appearance, making your skin smoother.
    • Regulates sebum production.
    • Prevents clogged pores and acne.
    • Minimize skin breakouts.
    • Lightening dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
    • Increase the production of skin collagen.
    • Minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
    • Improving skin texture and overall skin complexion.

Many ingredients have been introduced, wielding transformative effects to cater to specific skin concerns within the skincare industry nowadays. Everybody loves skincare products that work, and recently, people have been raving about retinol, saying that it prevents aging skin.

    Skin Agin Problem

Retinol has gained a devoted appraisal among skincare enthusiasts for its remarkable ability to revitalize and rejuvenate the skin. This blog post will provide a comprehensive guide about retinol and what you need to know about retinol.

    What is Retinol?

Retinol belongs to the family of retinoids as a derivative of vitamin A. It is a potent ingredient in skincare and is widely recognized for addressing various skin concerns and promoting new skin cells. When applied to the skin, retinol interacts with skin cells, stimulating collagen production while increasing skin cell turnover and improving overall skin complexion. It effectively sheds dead skin cells and promotes new healthy skin cells.

    Benefits of Retinol

Retinol is also said to be the ultimate weapon in skincare against aging skin. It lessens the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and other aging signs. Retinol is also effective in treating acne by regulating sebum production on the skin and unclogging pores. This process helps to improve the elasticity, tone, and firmness of the skin, making it more radiant and youthful. Additionally, retinol helps to lessen dark spots and fade hyperpigmentation, making the skin tone more even.

    Retinol in Skincare

Retinol is commonly found in skincare products such as face creams, moisturizers, and serums. However, it is important to mention that retinol can cause irritation, dryness, and sensitivity to the skin, especially for first-time users.

    Tips for Using Retinol

If you decide to incorporate retinol into your skincare routine, it is recommended that you slowly introduce it to your skin from time to time to allow your skin to adapt. Always use sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from increased sensitivity due to sunlight. Remember to apply a generous moisturizer to prevent dryness and skin irritation. You may also consult with a dermatologist to choose the right formulation and concentration of retinol based on your skin concerns.

Here is an example of a retinol-based skincare routine:

    Morning Routine

    • Cleanser: Start your day with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and impurities accumulated overnight while you sleep.
    • Toner: Apply a soothing toner to balance your skin's pH levels.
    • Vitamin C Serum: Use Vitamin C serum to boost collagen production and give extra antioxidant protection to the skin.
    • Moisturizer: Provides enough hydration to the skin throughout the day.
    • Sunscreen: Use sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays during the day.

    Evening Routine

    • Cleansing Oil: Thoroughly remove sunscreen and makeup with a cleansing oil. You can also alternate it with a gentle makeup remover.
    • Cleanser: Use a mild cleanser to cleanse your face to remove any remaining traces of dirt and impurities.
    • Retinol Serum: Use two or three pumps of retinol serum and lightly pat it onto the skin, avoiding the eye area, until thoroughly absorbed. You can start with a lower concentration first and gradually increase as your skin tolerates it.
    • Hydrating Serum: Follow up with a hydrating serum to replenish moisture and soothe any potential irritation from the retinol.
    • Moisturizer: Finish your night routine with a hydrating moisturizer to lock in moisture, soothe the skin, and enhance the skin's overnight repair.

Remember to always listen to your skin, and you can adjust your skincare routine as needed. Be patient for optimal outcomes, as results may vary for each person and skin type. The key is consistency.

In this serum, niacinamide is also mixed with rice bran in an appropriate ratio to improve the effectiveness of the tone-up function. Chef-kiss!

How to Use Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum

Serums are commonly used before moisturizers because moisturizers are meant to seal every nutrient from the skincare products you put on your skin.

If you're having more steps in skincare, make sure to wear your skincare products in order based on the consistency- from the thinnest to the thickest texture. This is important to make sure the skincare products you wear are completely absorbed into the skin.

There are a few ways how to use the Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum:

    1. Apply a thin layer on targeted areas (dark spots) or
    2. Apply a thin layer to the entire face

Make sure to gently pat the serum onto the skin until it is fully absorbed. You can use this dark spot serum in both your morning and night skincare routines for better results.

My Thoughts on Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum (Review)

    Packaging

Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum comes in a tube packaging with a pump head dispenser. You can't see the content of the tube because the packaging is not transparent so you can't figure out how much serum you have left.

I think this kind of packaging is effective only at the beginning of use as the product is still considered full in the packaging so it's easy to pump out the serum. Once the serum is almost run out, you'll need a little bit of struggle to get the desired amount because most of the time, you'll just pump out some air.

Unless you are ready to cut the whole tube, you can just smudge the remaining excess serum inside and buy a new one as your next tube. This is a bit risky because after you cut the tube and the serum inside is actually still quite plentiful, you can't keep the remaining amount because it's already been exposed.

Nevertheless, the packaging is quite convenient especially when you want to travel. It won't get easily leak because it also had a transparent cap to prevent accidentally pushing the pump dispenser while in your bag.

    Texture and Consistency

This dark spot serum is not the usual lightweight serum you've ever used. The texture is quite thick, hence the recommendation to only apply a thin layer, especially to those with oily skin. But it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave any tacky feeling, resulting in a natural glow finish.

The formula of Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum is quite hydrating, which I love the most! It makes it an ideal skincare product to be used both as a serum and moisturizer, depending on your skin type and needs.

But, if you have dry skin, you'll still need to apply a moisturizer because using this serum alone won't satisfy the needs of your skin moisture. Overall, Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum is suitable for all skin types.

    Scent

Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum has a minimal herbal scent. I think it comes from the faint rosemary scent that fades away upon application. But it doesn't linger much and is barely noticeable. This ingredient may be irritating to some people (especially with sensitive skin), so make sure to check the ingredients that your skin might not tolerate.

    My Experience

Having dark spots are common to my skin as I occasionally had some acne (especially when I'm on my period) which eventually leads to scars. So, reducing the appearance of dark spots has always been my top priority in my skincare routine.

I've used a few other dark spot treatments before and some of them did make some improvements to my skin. When Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum went viral all over social media before, I can't help to get myself one because I was so tempted by lots of approval from beauty enthusiasts and all those consumers' positive feedback.

I'm glad that I did that panic shopping at midnight.

After using it for the first week, I could see an improvement in my skin. I applied a thin layer all over my face and also focused on targeted areas every single night. Although the dark spots are not completely disappeared, I could see them gradually fade away, which is good enough as I've been wearing the serum for only one week.

My skin also looks healthier since I've included this serum in my skincare routine. I'm currently in love with Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum because the results are clearly visible even though it does take some time.

Now, I understand why this serum got a lot of crazy raves all over social media before because it's already been proven countless times to treat dark spots. I will definitely repurchase this serum but I also hope they improve on the packaging. If you're still not using Axis-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, you're missing out!

Parabens are a common ingredient found in many personal care and beauty products, including skincare. While they have been used for decades as a preservative to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and extend the shelf life of products, there has been growing concern about the safety of these chemicals and their potential health effects.

In this article, we will explore what parabens are, the concerns surrounding their use in skincare, and alternative options for preserving products.

    What are Parabens?

Parabens are a type of preservative that is commonly used in a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products, including skincare. They are added to products to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold and to extend the shelf life of the product.

Parabens are used in these products because they are highly effective at preventing the growth of bacteria, yeasts, and molds. They are also relatively inexpensive and easy to use, making them a popular choice for manufacturers.

    skincare product

The most common types of parabens used in skincare products include methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. They are often used in combination with other preservatives to provide additional protection against bacteria and other microorganisms.

    Is Paraben Harmful to Skin?

Parabens are preservatives that are commonly used in skincare products to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and extend the shelf life of the product. However, some studies have found that parabens can penetrate the skin and accumulate in the body over time. This buildup of parabens in the body has been linked to potential health problems, including hormone disruption and an increased risk of certain types of cancer, particularly breast cancer.

Another concern is that parabens have been shown to have a weak estrogenic effect in the body, meaning that they can mimic the hormone estrogen and disrupt normal hormone function. This disruption can lead to a range of health problems, including an increased risk of certain types of cancer and fertility issues.

Parabens could also cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. While parabens are generally considered safe for most people, some individuals may have a sensitivity to them and may experience skin irritation or an allergic reaction when they use products containing parabens.

Symptoms of skin irritation or an allergic reaction to parabens may include redness, itching, and swelling, as well as more severe symptoms like hives or blisters. If you experience any of these symptoms after using a skincare product containing parabens, it's wise to discontinue the use of the product and immediately consult a dermatologist.

It's important to keep in mind that not all individuals who are sensitive to parabens will experience skin irritation or an allergic reaction, and some individuals may only experience mild symptoms. While more research is needed to fully understand the impact of parabens on our health, it is clear that these chemicals are best avoided.

Consumers can make informed choices about the products they use by looking for products that are labeled as “paraben-free” or “natural” and by choosing skincare products made with high-quality, natural ingredients. Always do your own research and make informed decisions about the products you use on your skin.

How Much Paraben is Safe for Skin?

While the exact amount of parabens that are considered safe for use in skincare products is still a matter of discussion, it is generally accepted that the levels of parabens used in most products are low and considered safe for most people. However, the safety of parabens can vary depending on several factors, including individual tolerance levels, the specific type of paraben being used, and the duration and frequency of use.

The European Union has set a maximum concentration limit of 0.4% for the use of parabens in cosmetics (1), and many skincare products contain well below this limit. However, it's important to keep in mind that some individuals may still experience skin irritation or allergic reactions even at low levels of exposure.

Is Paraben Good for Skincare Products?

The use of parabens in skincare is a controversial issue. On one hand, parabens are effective preservatives that help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and extend the shelf life of skincare products. This can make them a convenient and cost-effective option for manufacturers.

    women putting on skincare

However, on the other hand, there are concerns about the potential negative effects of parabens on our health and the environment. Given these concerns, many consumers are choosing to avoid parabens in their skincare products and opt for alternative options, such as natural preservatives or paraben-free products. However, it is important to keep in mind that not all natural preservatives are equal, and some may be less effective at preventing the growth of harmful bacteria than parabens.

Alternative Options for Preserving Skincare Products

If you are concerned about the use of parabens in your skincare products, there are several alternative options that you can consider. Some of the most commonly used alternatives to parabens include:

    1. Natural preservatives

Natural preservatives, such as tea tree oil, rosemary oil, and grapefruit seed extract, are effective at preventing the growth of bacteria, yeasts, and molds. They are often derived from plant-based sources and are generally considered to be safer for our health and the environment.

    2. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help preserve the quality of skincare products and extend their shelf life. It is often used in combination with other natural preservatives to provide additional protection against bacteria and other microorganisms.

    3. Benzyl Alcohol

Benzyl alcohol is a natural preservative that is derived from plants. It is effective at preventing the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms, making it a popular alternative to parabens.

    4. Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol is a synthetic preservative that is commonly used as an alternative to parabens. It is effective at preventing the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms and is generally considered to be safe for use in skincare products.

    5. Sorbic Acid

Sorbic acid is a synthetic preservative that is derived from natural sources. It is effective at preventing the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms and is generally considered to be safe for use in skincare products.

It's important to keep in mind that not all natural preservatives are equally effective, and some may be less effective at preventing the growth of harmful bacteria than parabens. Additionally, some natural preservatives may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some people. When choosing skincare products, it is important to read the label and understand what preservatives are being used.

Why Parabens in Skincare Should be a Concern

In recent years, there has been a growing trend toward using natural and organic products, including skincare. This shift is due, in part, to concerns about the safety of synthetic ingredients and the impact they may have on our health. Parabens are one such ingredient that has come under scrutiny and for good reason.

Parabens are not only found in skincare products, but also in a variety of other personal care products such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and toothpaste. The widespread use of parabens means that we are exposed to these chemicals on a daily basis, potentially leading to a cumulative harmful chemicals buildup in our bodies.

Parabens in skincare should be a concern because of their potential impact on our health and the potential risk of hormonal disruption and an increased risk of certain types of cancer. When choosing skincare products, it is important to read the label and understand what preservatives are being used, and to consider alternative options if you are concerned about the use of parabens in your daily products.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, parabens are a common ingredient in skincare products and have been used for decades as a preservative to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and extend the shelf life of products. However, there are concerns about the safety of these chemicals and their potential health effects, including disruption of the endocrine system and a potentially increased risk of breast cancer.

Consumers can make informed choices about the products they use by looking for products that are labeled as “paraben-free” or “natural” and by choosing skincare products made with high-quality, natural ingredients. Taking care of your skin with safe, natural products is an investment in your overall health and well-being.
